I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 25 years ago (for fellow Synthroiders, I’m currently on the olive pill).  I stumbled upon this great educational cartoon the other day which explains the ins-and-outs of the disease.

It also links to a great supporting article detailing the trouble that auto-immune disease patients have not only receiving a diagnosis, but also getting their conditions covered by insurance. I've yet to have a carrier cover my thyroid medication, so I'll be on the hook to pay for it OOP for the remainder of my life.
