Crossing the Brimley/Cocoon Line
How to look one's age in the modern age.
Growing up, forty was “over the hill”, when one was ancient and decrepit. Past their prime & ready to be shipped off to the old folk’s home, milked for their inheritance.
Now, fifty is the new forty. Or should I say, 50 years, 9 months, and 6 days — because today is the day I officially pass the Brimley/Cocoon Line.
When the movie “Cocoon” was released to theaters on June 21, 1985, its star Wilford Brimley was 18,530 days old (50 years, 9 months and 6 days). Yet like everyone that was an adult back then, he looked at least twenty years older!
And today, I myself reach that most excellent of milestones, as I am now the exact same age, according to the Brimley / Cocoon Line Calculator.
So let’s rejoice in the fact I am more Paul Ruddian than Wilford Brimleyian these days, and hopefully I can keep up that streak for the next 50.77 years!

Thankfully, It'll be awhile before I'll be cast in any "Cocoon" sequels!
