Outside of work and family, I have a handful of regular activities that keep my brain & soul stimulated, grouped as such below:

Hobbies

Media Diet

I've been a regular tracker of the movies & shows I watch, the podcasts & albums I listen to, and the books & comics I read. I primarily do this to ensure I feel good about the time I spent the year before, and to use the results to "tune" the following year in case I veered too far towards a particular medium (I'm looking at you, TV!). I track it all in this Notion database.

Genealogy

Since the late 1990s, I've been responsible for the McGarity family genealogy, a pastime I've recently picked back up! I use a couple different programs for this — MacFamilyTree (which generated my previous online site) and Family Tree Maker. Lately, I've found incredible value with keeping my tree on Ancestry.com, which you can access via invite here.

Video Projects

Everyday

Since 2012, I’ve been recording my life by taking daily selfies, then compiling them into a time-lapse video. You can witness the latest progress here.

1 Second Everyday

In the same span of time, I've also been splicing together semi-daily second-long video clips into a larger video that shows just how amazing of a life I’ve packed into the past several years. Check it out here.

Websites

My Life In Weeks

Inspired by another user, I stood up a website that illustrate my life where each box represents a week past or present. It's interesting to see on a single screen just how much has occurred — and how much more there is to come!
